PHP originally stood for Personal Home Page that later officially known as ‘Hypertext Preprocessor’. Earlier it was written as a set of CGI (common gateway interface) in ‘C’ language in 1994 and released in 1995. Rasmus Lerdorf created PHP in 1995. He wrote the original CGI binaries.
