The latest IIT admissions in Mumbai reveals that computer science and electrical engineering are the two top choices among students. Computer science and engineering (CSE) has emerged as the most popular choice among the students. 25,000 students filled their choices for the 10,006 IIT seats. It was the first-ever joint seat allocation process this year. There were 2.07 lakh applications for the 990 computer science seats across the 18 IITs. It means 209 contenders for each seat.
Data released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority shows that CSE and electrical engineering remained the top choices. Electrical and mechanical engineering stand second and third. Civil engineering is fourth on the students' list of preferences. As per the trends, CSE and electrical engineering have been the top choices for at least a decade.

Ajinkya Mohgaonkar who achieved 34th position nationwide and remained at second position in Mumbai. Initially, he was confused between CSE and mechanical engineering, but finally chose CSE. According to him, he was keen on mechanical as he loved physics. But, after consulting with his brother, he concluded to go for CSE.
