A
great “employee retention” program is equivalent to creating a great “employer
branding” . Also, it's equivalent to obtaining employer advertising services from a professional . In layman’s term, if a company is able to retain its employees, it
definitely adds value to its position in the eyes of job-seeking candidates.
When employer branding is about
effectively retaining talent in your organization, it becomes necessary for you
to put best foot forward. If your organization fails to connect with employees,
it’s time to follow stronger employee retention strategies.
Sometimes,
salary hikes, acknowledging hard work of employees and perks are not what
employees look for, there are other motivating factors that can become reasons
to retain best of the employees in your organization. Following are some of the
employee retention practices that organizations rarely think upon:
No
one can hide emotional issues, it somehow appears on our face. In a working atmosphere, there could
be multiple reasons for an employee suffering from emotional issues. It could
be due to his/her personal problems or work related issues. Work related
problems can be easily tackled as the working atmosphere is responsible for it,
but if it is because of his/her personal issues, challenges automatically build
up for employers to deal with. HR can deal the situation with a personal
session of counselling where he/she can ask the problem directly to the
employees. Sympathizing someone in emotional trauma works well in releasing the
stress and depression of the person who is going through a tough emotional
time.
Talent
is not limited to a specific zone, you can find it anywhere. If you restrict
your hiring for locals living closest to your office, it might be difficult in
finding required talent from a limited area. You have to expand your reach.
But, here loss is for the employees living 30-50 kilometers away from the
office. Providing them conveyance or shuttle or cab service eases the stress of
reaching office on time from a distant location. It not only helps far-living employees
reach office without spending money on their own, but it creates a sense of
reliability for employers from employees. Hence, it improve employer branding.
Employees
who are not living with their families always miss on time food especially
hygienic food, most of the time they order food from outside and fall ill. By
providing some good reasons (good food in lunch) to be healthy at workplace,
employers can build a positive impact on the minds of employees. It helps them
retain employees for a long time.
These
are the three basic things employers miss to include in their list of how to
retain employees. These suggested points are less practiced yet crucial aspects
that would make the employee-employer relation stronger and stop you investing on employer advertising services.
