Higher academic degree equals to
a well-paying job and MBA is one such high-in-demand qualification that
delivers maximum number of management pros in various domains in order to
fulfill budding global market. An MBA professional is responsible for managing
top-notch administration process within a company and their main motive is to
help a firm achieve their desired goals.
Have you ever thought that managing the work load of an entire firm
could be a tiring task, filled with stress?
Why are we talking about Work-Life Equilibrium?
As long as it’s high paying, who
gives a second thought to the stress or the ‘zero personal life scenario’
involved within a job profile. According to a global survey conducted by INSEAD
Emerging Markets Institute (EMI), HEAD Foundation and Universum around 73%
MBA’s chose work-life blend over their high paying jobs and around 82%
understood the importance of work-life balance over their current job positions
in a firm. This survey was conducted between 16,000 professionals across 42
countries in 2014.
Global economies have witnessed a
rapid boost in the demand of MBA professionals and have created hundreds of
jobs for MBA freshers in and across India. However, the employers have also
understood an important fact that a professional who works for around 12-16
hours daily needs to be stress-free in order to have higher productivity. A
sad, unsatisfied employee is not productive at all and hence firm is at a loss.
What if a firm does not practice work-life balance culture?
Well, there are several damages
starting from financial loss to productivity. Over-worked and stress leads to
an imbalance in reliability, efficiency, commitment and performance of an
employee, that, on the other hand, affects operational and production costs of
a firm. It’s a total loss for the firm.
The Need
If we think from an employer
perspective, work-life balance benefits them in five different ways:
- High ROI (Return on Investment)
- Productive Workforce
- Better work culture
- Happy and loyal employees
- Better Staffing and maintenance of law, budgets and protocols in a firm
How can a stressed job like MBA can have a work-life balance?
It’s all upon an individual and
his priorities. Jobs for MBA freshers are countless; hence, it’s useless to
stress yourself with thoughts of having low employment opportunities. As long
as you are skilled, productive and happy, your future is going to be fine.
Think twice if a job is offering good work culture or not. Work on below
mentioned pointers to have a perfect career-life balance.
Ways to get a perfect life-work
blend:
- Focus on a job that does not require travelling.
- Focus on some family planning.
- Focus on getting ‘off-duty’ once in a while.
- Focus on limiting your work hour.
- Focus on exercising regularly.
- Focus on getting proper sleep.
- Focus on limiting distractions at work.
- Focus on building a network and seeking help from others.
- Focus on better and efficient job management.
Final Words
Having a good work-life balance
is a morale booster. It increases your efficiency and satisfaction quotient
with your work and hence, directly affects your productivity. A senior management position is a job filled
